Aren't I pretty!!!

On Saturday, Mary, Kathy and I headed out to the New Hampshire Sheep and Wool. Now this is only my third time going and this is the first that it didn't rain. I love this festival. Not too crowded, lots of stuff to look at and lots of animals for Mary to take pictures of. They seem to like to pose for her. Check out her blog for some of her up close and personal pictures.

On Sunday, Mary and I headed back to the festival as I was taking a class in Tricking out My Wheel. Winnie and I had a lovely time with Julie, Rose, and Danielle. I learned a lot of interesting thing about my wheel, mostly how to correctly take care of it. We also were able to chat for a bit with Lucia, Carol and on Saturday, we ran into Kathy and Manise.

We had good fair food - yummy lobsta rolls and apple crisp, checked out the fleeces, purchased some roving and some yarn and a drop spindle for Mary and went home happy with the time spent together and with our purchases. OOOO and I also sent the first of many fleeces to be processed at Friends Folly Farm. A very satisfying weekend, all in all.

J is for Jared

I write a lot about my daughter Kelsie but very rarely do I mention my very lovable son Jared.  He is the younger of my twins (by 35 minutes) and is deff my clown.  Here is some of his recent hair styles.  J2He is a good son who is into lots of different things.  He likes very different styles of music from Tupac to Stevie Wonder.  He had a good time dyeing yarn with us.  He loves his video games but also likes useless information (very much like my wife) He is helpful and LOVES his mother.  I love him too.  Have a great weekend and hug your mom and kids.  J3 J J4

Friday - Fill-In #71

1. The yarn had an extra secret ingredient; it was angora!
2. Wind through my window.
3. Right now, I need breakfast.
4. Bed is where I went Thursday night; it was wonderful.
5. Why does love hurt so much?
6. All I can think of is the festival.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going to camp, tomorrow my plans include yarn shopping and Sunday, I want to spin!

Hope to see some of you at New Hampshire Sheep and Wool.

Fuschia - Gray Yarns
Originally uploaded by ADITLO

Today - yarn. This is a magical process. Just Saturday, the fuschia was fluff. Monday it was singles, Monday night - 2 ply yarn. This is a totally new experience for me. I just want to make everything into yarn. My sister keeps seeing hat when she sees this yarn. We will see what it turns into. Maybe my first pair of mittens. Not sure but it will be fun to knit.Niddy_noddy

Fushia roving

Fushia roving

I have been on a yarn diet - no yarn, except one skein at SPA, since the first of the year. BUT I am new to spinning so roving doesn't count, right? I need to have something to spin even though I have all that fleece in the garage, so on Saturday my mom and I went to the Yarn and Fiber Company in Windham NH and I purchase some lovely fushia Corridale roving. I have some gray with fushia and blue threads in it that I am going to ply it with. I also picked up some roving in CT. Some black shetland and some cranberry colored merino. They are here.

Bunny and Tree

Bunny and Tree
Originally uploaded by ADITLO

Yesterday morning before work at the unseemly time of 6:00 there were the two neighborhood bunnies in our back yard. One is a little larger and a little darker but they are both very cute. We also have Robins again this year. In a different bush but right in the same space as we did last year. This first brood is 4 strong, and very hungry. And Mr. Cardinal greeted us as we walked out the door. A virtual wild kingdom is living in our little backyard.

Watching the bunnies and going to the sheep festivals has made me very interested in pet bunnies. They seem to be very social animals and while the wild ones are cute, they are apparently not good pets (like any wild animal), so I have been looking at bunny rescue sites. I am not likely to get a bunny but if there is anyone out there that is interested there are several rescue sites and the MSPCA also has tons of bunnies. For more bunny photos you can check them out here.  If you are interested in adopting a bun you can go here in MA and there are others in different states.

Friday Fill-Ins # 70

This is a first for me.  I found this on Knittymuggins site, followed the link and decided I would like to try this.  So here goes.  If you feel like playing along go here, copy and paste and then link back.  She wants to see what everyone wrote.

1. Two of my favorite ingredients in a drink are vodka and cranberry juice!
2. People often amazes me. (and not always in a good way)
3. You can keep doing that forever, the dog is still going to pee in the house (gilly).
4. Meat, veggies, starch, mix it all together and voila! You have dinner!.
5. If I had a yard with a garden, I would love to grow veggies.
6. Love is best au naturel.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going to camp, tomorrow my plans include sleeping late and puttering around and Sunday, I want to knit!

Have a great, safe and hopefully dry weekend.  Happy knitting!

It is quite soft and squishy. In the upcoming weeks there will be some Interesting Images on the blog. At least once a week I will have a guest photographer - Kelsie. She has discovered that she likes to take the camera with her on walks. Last summer she spent a lot of time taking pictures of mushrooms, now it is interesting shapes, signs, etc around our home town. So tomorrow will be the first installment of INTERESTING IMAGES by Kelsie. Look for them and if you like them, please do comment as I am sure that Kelsie would love to hear what you think.
