Miracles do happen
As some of you maybe aware, yesterday morning there was a
blazing inferno in Everett, MA due to a fuel truck accident. Mary and I found out late last evening that her neice Laura and her boyfriend Chris were able to escape the fire, although his car was not so lucky.
Chris' family home was damaged with smoke and fire. I am not sure at this time exactly to what extent but I would still like to do something to show that people care so being the good (as in charitable) knitters that you all are, I am asking for donations of squares. I want to let Laura (that is her in the picture taken at the scene) and Chris know that people care and are thinking about them.. I know that we all have holiday knitting/crocheting to do, so I am hoping that you would be able to get them to me by January 5-6. It gives everyone a month. I would love the squares to be 9 x 9. Any color, any weight *although dk or worsted would be best* and I would like it to be washable. Other than that - it is up to you.
I would appreciate knowing one way or the other if you would be willing to undertake this project.
Thanks so very much from both Mary and myself.

Debbi, I would be willing to knit a square. My only question is whether by washable you mean you want superwash yarn or whether yarn that needs to be handwashed is okay. I'm pretty sure I've got both in my stash, so it's up to you.

Hi again Debbi -- Thanks so much for coordinating this, it's a great idea. Already many of my friends are interested in doing this -- some are wondering if a crocheted square would work as well?

I'll make one too. Can I have some extra time (or a knitting fairy)?

I'm happy to crochet one---I think all my holiday yarnwork is done or not getting done this year. Can you send me a mailing address?

I should be able to make you a square! You might need to remind me as the deadline approaches, if that's not too much to ask. What a terrible fire. I have family in Everett, too, although luckily they were not near the fire.
