Above is a link to a post that I just read about a small library and the children's section that was destroyed by Irene. All over there are tiny towns that are dealing with losses like these. I know that when a town needs food and water and has no electricity that books are not the top priority but after the food arrives and the lights are on - the books are still going to be destroyed. This is a picture of the town that my great grandmother grew up in. This is Rochester VT. My cousins still live there and they are and have been completely cut off since Tropical Storm Irene hit. So please, do what you can.
