Last week Kelsie went to Blaine Beauty school to have her hair dyed. Her best friend's mom Barbara (the blonde) set her up with one of the other women and off she went. Barbara was kind enough to bring her home so we didn't have to sit there for the 3 hour event. Kelsie came home and didn't look any different until............. she lifted her hair. Apparently she decided to color the underneath of her hair and not the top....strange child. I think though she is going to go back and have some streaks put in it. She looks very cute nevertheless.

Purple/Brown 33% Alpaca & 67% Corriedale
This is the roving that I have been working on getting ready for a swap that I signed up for. I am hoping that this will be thin enough and maybe even enough yardage to make some socks. I only have 4 oz but this is 2 ozs spun up and it is an almost full bobbin so we will see. I am going to do it in a two ply with the other 2 ozs. I am pleased at how thin it is coming out.

Thursday is picture day
Today is Thursday so these must be Interesting Images - Part 3 - by Kelsie. As I will continue to do as long as Kelsie wants me to, I will try and post 3 or 4 of her pictures on my blog on Thursdays. I find some of her subjects to be different for a 16 yr old to be taking pictures of. Today's pictures are some good examples. Enjoy.

Big Orange Fluff and Stuff
OH MY did this catch my eye at the NH S&W on Saturday. Yummy orange, yellow, red fibers blended in a beautiful way. It is a mix of different wools. See what kind and who I bought it from here.
I purchased 9 ozs. NOW the problem, what to make with all this yummy fluff? Any suggestions?
I also bought some Merino and Tussah Silk in a wonderful color combo. I think I will make something for the wife with it as she is such an enabler. Again, suggestions are welcome.
And my wife bought me a new orifice hook for Winnie. It is made of the horn of a Jacob Sheep. It is simply beautiful.
But don't take my word for it - see for yourself.

Aren't I pretty!!!
On Saturday, Mary, Kathy and I headed out to the New Hampshire Sheep and Wool. Now this is only my third time going and this is the first that it didn't rain. I love this festival. Not too crowded, lots of stuff to look at and lots of animals for Mary to take pictures of. They seem to like to pose for her. Check out her blog for some of her up close and personal pictures.
On Sunday, Mary and I headed back to the festival as I was taking a class in Tricking out My Wheel. Winnie and I had a lovely time with Julie, Rose, and Danielle. I learned a lot of interesting thing about my wheel, mostly how to correctly take care of it. We also were able to chat for a bit with Lucia, Carol and on Saturday, we ran into Kathy and Manise.
We had good fair food - yummy lobsta rolls and apple crisp, checked out the fleeces, purchased some roving and some yarn and a drop spindle for Mary and went home happy with the time spent together and with our purchases. OOOO and I also sent the first of many fleeces to be processed at Friends Folly Farm. A very satisfying weekend, all in all.

Yesterday Fluff -
Today - yarn. This is a magical process. Just Saturday, the fuschia was fluff. Monday it was singles, Monday night - 2 ply yarn. This is a totally new experience for me. I just want to make everything into yarn. My sister keeps seeing hat when she sees this yarn. We will see what it turns into. Maybe my first pair of mittens. Not sure but it will be fun to knit.

Fushia roving
I have been on a yarn diet - no yarn, except one skein at SPA, since the first of the year. BUT I am new to spinning so roving doesn't count, right? I need to have something to spin even though I have all that fleece in the garage, so on Saturday my mom and I went to the Yarn and Fiber Company in Windham NH and I purchase some lovely fushia Corridale roving. I have some gray with fushia and blue threads in it that I am going to ply it with. I also picked up some roving in CT. Some black shetland and some cranberry colored merino. They are here.
