This past weekend, my sister Cheryl and Kelsie rented a movie called The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. They talked me into watching it with them. Now I am not a big movie watcher. I like programs that are about 1 hour long so that if I don’t like it or if I am tired I can shut it off. But they were persistent and it was too early for bed – so we sat and watched it. It was an interesting take on a difficult subject – WWII – Germans and Jews. Brief description – Family of German commander leaves home in Berlin to live in the country, supposedly to be safer – young boy 8 years old told not to leave the yard – no exploring – well off he goes and what does he find but the concentration camp that his father is there to be in charge of – a work camp as it is called – meets a young 8 year old boy in funny pajamas and becomes friends – doesn’t realize he shouldn’t, because kids don’t think that way and the story progresses from there. This is a thought provoking story with an interesting twist at the end. Do rent it, but bring your tissues.
