What do you get? Spa – the wonderful weekend in mid Maine in the middle of this snowy winter.
The perfect get away to ease the winter blues and get knitters, spinners, weavers, crocheters and other fibery folk together to talk, laugh, ooooh and ahhhhh at each other's creations and generally have a great time. Spa is put on by the divas of NewEnglandTextileArts or NETA to those in the know. Strictly volunteer these ladies did a fab job. Great venue, great vendors, wonderful food and fab service. Mary, Kathy, Julie and I went up on Friday, in the middle of the storm. We stayed in a little place on Friday since we weren’t planning on going until Saturday, went on an adventure (check out Mary’s blog for more info on the blonde moose)
had great Thai food (I had the duck …yummmmm) and even did some spinning in the hotel room. All that before we were even supposed to be there. Off to breakfast, shopping, seeing some old friends,
getting a gift for my silly sock pal, some roving for me (yes I am learning to spin – get up off the floor Rose) some yarn for my sister and her pal, some smelly stuff, having lunch with
friends up for the day, sitting in the great townhouse for a couple of hours and spinning my first 2 almost full bobbins and then having Julie ply them together. About 40 yards of bulky weight yarn not
perfect but I am happy with it. Sitting around laughing at and with Kathy that night, eating pickys for dinner, knitting and generally having an awesome time.
Sunday we had a buffet breakfast and then headed up to Bath for more shopping at Halcyon Yarns where I purchased more roving and some soak. We stopped at Purl Divas, very cute shop, had lunch at Jacobs in Brunswick and then headed home, tired but very happy.
