1. How long have you been spinning? What skill level do you consider yourself? Since Feb 2008, beginner

2. What kinds of yarn do you create (singles/2-ply/3-ply/art yarn)? 2 ply

3. What do you spin with (spindle/wheel/both)? wheel

4. What are your favorite fibers to spin with? Anything you don't like? love everything

5. Who are your favorite crack dealers fiber sources (etsy or otherwise)? Like Spunky, Redbarnfarms on ebay Other than that I am very easy

6. What kind of fiber do you want to try? Anything at all - not romney (I have lots)

7. Is there any techniques you would like to learn? navajo plying

8. Do you dye fiber? If not, would you like to learn? I have not dyed roving yet but have dyed yarn and LOVE IT

9. Do you have fiber prep tools (and like to use them) or would you prefer ready to spin fiber? ready to spin, although a friend has hackles and I am going to learn how to blend fibers

10. What do you do with your handspun? What projects have you completed? So far I have knit a scarf for my daughter, am currently making some handspun for my sister to knit a hat and mittens with.

11. Are you in need of any spinning gadgets (WPI Gauge, threading hook, etc)? no, I have a wonderful threading hook that my friend made me and another one made from a Jacobs sheep horn that my wife bought me.

12. What colors "fall into your shopping basket"? Any colors you just can't stand? I am not big into pink, or bright yellow, I love purples, greens, oranges, browns, deep reds,

13. What is on your wheel/spindle right now? purple/brown alpaca/corridale

14. What other crafts/hobbies do you have? I knit, crochet, scrapbook

15. Other than crafts, what are you passionate about? my kids, my wife, camping, like bird watching, want to learn how to grow a dye garden 

16. Do you have an online wishlist? no

17. Is there anything that you collect? only black amtheyst glass

18. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What magazine subscriptions do you have? I have no books on spinning, and no magazine subscriptions

19. When is your birthday? 2/19/62

20. What book or movie character do you most resemble in personality? according to the dw Margaret from M.A.S.H. (guess that means that I am pushy, bossy but still passionate)

21. What is the climate like where you live around this time (need to know for careful shipments of anything meltable)? warm (70-90s)

22. Tell us one weird fact about yourself! I am terrified of caterpillars (no other bug, snake, etc.  just caterpillars)

12. Do you put up a Christmas tree? If not then what do you do? We put up a fake one now, but for a while we used a real one (before cats) and I loved it.
13. Favorite holiday treats? Love xmas candy
14. Favorite holiday smells? Fresh tree, snow in the air
15. Do you celebrate Christmas in a traditional or unconventional way? Please elaborate. Traditional.  Put the tree up about a week or week 1/2 before xmas, decorate, like to sing carols with kids.  Christmas day, go to in-laws after xmas in morning at home
16. What are your favorite holiday traditions? - stockings, silver santa bell on tree,

20. When do you start your Christmas? I start shopping in July but no decorating until very near.
21. Do you send Christmas cards? No, always intend to and never get around to it. Do you make them or buy them?
22. What is your favorite Christmas dish? It used to be my grand mother's scallop and shrimp casarole, now, not sure
23. Carolers are at your door. What do you do? Listen and ask if they would like something to drink
24. When do you open presents? Christmas eve or Christmas morning? Mostly christmas morning.  Sometimes my kids persuade me to open one on Christmas eve
25. Do you celebrate with family or friends or both? Both

1.  What is the one knitting accessory you could not live without? I can't live with out my knitting bags.  Keeps the stash under control and out of sight of my wife.

so, how much and what type of project? enough so as not to get bored - depends on how long I am gone and probably socks

Secret Pal 11 Questionnaire

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? LOVE sock yarn, love merino or anything soft.  Don't care for cotton or any fun fur or acrylic.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? I have 3 wonderful needle rolls (made by my friend Julie) I also have 2 old needle holders that hold some long straight ones that I have.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? I have been knitting around 5 years now, my best friend taught me.  I would consider myself an intermediate knitter.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? - yes it is on my blog

5. What's your favorite scent? - vanilla

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? - yes... dark chocolate - especially ones filled with carmel, or raspberry

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? I crochet, I scrapbook and I am starting to dye my own yarn (check out my sockapalozza 4 socks - my dye job) I do not spin

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) CD's I like 70's rock, I like some of today's pop.  Not a big fan of country.

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand? LOVE purple, orange, some greens.  Not a big fan of blue although denim blue is good - just not electric blue

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? I am married to a wonderful woman (who is learning to knit and finally understands stash) I have twins b/g that are 15.  We all live with my mother, sister and nephew.  We have 4 cats between us.  2 males which are ours and 2 females which are theirs.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? - not really.  Of course that is because I don't have any so I would probably wear mittens and a scarf

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? right now - socks

13. What are you knitting right now? embossed leaves socks for my daughter. Just finished Twisted Flower socks by Cookie A for my sockapalozza 4 pal.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? yes love them

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? circulars aluminum (love my new ikon and knitpicks)

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift? both

17. How old is your oldest UFO? 3 years old - my daughters sweater from misty alpaca

19. Is there anything that you collect? - black amethyest glass, unusual pins

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? - I have no knitting magazine subscriptions.   I will have to think about this one and post an update.

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn? I want to learn how to knit fair isle and lace

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? yes I am a sock knitter.  I wear an 8 wide, my foot is 9 1/2 inches long and about 9 inches wide.
